How to choose a base for nails

Gel manicure is a trend in recent years. Such varnishes serve to strengthen nails, hold for a long time, without losing the brightness of the shade and its integrity. But in order for the varnish to show itself in the sock for all 100, it is necessary to carefully observe the coating technology, not missing a single stage. An important among them is the application of a base for gel polish.

WHY DO YOU NEED A BASE FOR GEL POLISH

Base - the first stage of coverage, its base. Without its use, only single-phase products can be used. All three-phase varnishes need three layers - base, colored varnish and top, which are cured in a UV lamp.

The base for gel polish helps to solve several problems at once:

  • improves adhesion between nail and colored varnish;

  • is responsible for leveling the nail relief;

  • serves to protect the nail from toxic compounds, pigments and dyes;

  • strengthens the nail and makes it denser.

What base for gel polish to choose ? Necessarily high quality. A good base will allow you to carry a manicure for a very long time - you will have to go to the salon not because the nails have lost their attractive appearance, but because they have managed to grow back.

HOW TO CHOOSE A BASE FOR GEL POLISH

Bases for different nails differ in composition, consistency, and manufacturer. Consider these criteria when purchasing a product.

When buying a base, pay attention to its viscosity:

  • for marigolds with damage, cracks, uneven relief, it is better to buy a thicker base - it is applied more difficult, but better aligns the nail plate;

  • liquid products are easy to apply (it is important to ensure that the base does not spread onto the cuticle area), they are best used for healthy, smooth marigolds.

In terms of their composition, the bases can be rubber and non-rubber. What base to buy for gel polish ? Rubber products are considered the best, because they:

  • able to even out the relief of the nail with tubercles, even when using the thinnest layer;

  • have high viscosity and the ability to self-level;

  • take the shape of a nail and show themselves perfectly when the marigolds grow back;

  • perfectly protect the nails from further coatings due to their high density;

  • provide good adhesion;

  • do not take long to dry in a lamp (dry in less than 30 seconds).

In addition to the fact that the base can be rubber or non-rubber, it can include various useful additives in the formula, such as vitamins, calcium, keratin, minerals. They strengthen the nails, moisturize them, and help get rid of nail diseases. Medical bases differ from simple (classical) ones in color - they have a beige or pink tone.

Which base is better to buy for gel polish ? Look at the reputation of the manufacturer, reviews of consumers who have already tested the product, the compatibility of the product with varnishes and tops of other companies.

How to apply gel polish base

Prepare your nails for manicure by sawing off the edge and removing the resulting dust. Treat the nail plates with a degreasing agent and go over them with a buff. The next step is to apply an acid-free primer to the nail. Apply the base starting from the center of the nail, gently rubbing the product into the plate. Dry the cover in the lamp. To strengthen the first layer and improve adhesion to the pigment, you can use acrylic powder - it is applied to the prepared base (before drying the base in a lamp).

The best base for ordinary varnish (yes, with a simple manicure without a gel coating, you can also use a base) - a product containing healing and strengthening components. The use of such a tool will extend the wearing time of the manicure design, strengthen and restore the nail plate. If your nails turn yellow, use a whitening base. For marigolds that suffer from cracks and have uneven relief, choose a leveling agent. For a French manicure, buy a colorless base.
